Gli Incogniti was founded in 2006 by the violinist Amandine Beyer. The name is inspired by the Accademia degli Incogniti, one of the most active and libertarian artistic and intellectual circles of 17th-century Venice.
Specializing in the Baroque instrumental repertoire, the ensemble also explores the Classical repertoire and is regularly invited to the world's leading concert halls, such as the Philharmonie de Paris, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Wigmore Hall in London, and Oji Hall in Tokyo.
It also performs at major international festivals, including the Boston Festival, the MA Festival in Bruges, and the Bergen International Festival.
Numerous collaborations include Giuliano Carmignola, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Andreas Staier, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Alexeï Lubimov, and Hans-Jörg Mammel, as well as the Rosas dance company of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and the group La Manufacture verbale.
Gli Incogniti records exclusively for harmonia mundi, featuring works by Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Pachelbel, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and Franz Joseph Haydn, with albums enthusiastically received by both critics and the public.
Since 2017, the ensemble has organized a chamber music Academy aimed at young professionals and students.
