Founded in 1989 by the violinist Fabio Biondi, Europa Galante is an Italian instrumental ensemble specialized in performing Baroque and Classical repertoire on period instruments.

Born from the need for an Italian voice in a field then dominated by Northern European musicians, the orchestra rapidly established itself on the international scene thanks to a discography honored with numerous awards — including the Diapason d'Or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, BBC Editor's Choice, and three Grammy nominations — and a presence in the world’s most important concert halls, from Teatro alla Scala in Milan to Carnegie Hall in New York, from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to the Sydney Opera House.

In addition to interpretations of great Baroque masterpieces — most notably its celebrated reading of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons — the ensemble has distinguished itself through the revival of rare 18th-century works and the rediscovery of the 19th-century bel canto repertoire (Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Verdi) on original instruments, in collaboration with leading international festivals such as the Chopin Festival in Warsaw. It received the Premio Abbiati in 2002 and 2008, and the Premio Scanno for Music in 2004.

As the resident orchestra of the Fondazione Teatro Due in Parma, Europa Galante continues its intensive activity with tours across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
