Allabastrina is a vocal-instrumental ensemble founded in 1997 by Elena Sartori on the occasion of the first Italian performance of Francesco Cavalli’s opera "Ercole Amante".
The group operates as an open formation and has collaborated on prestigious productions, including Christoph Willibald Gluck’s "Orfeo ed Euridice" directed by Graham Vick and projects conducted by Riccardo Muti, such as Gustav Holst’s "The Planets".
Specializing in the rediscovery of forgotten masterpieces, the ensemble has recorded pivotal works such as "La Liberazione di Ruggiero dall’isola di Alcina" by Francesca Caccini — which earned them the nomination of "Ensemble of the Year" by the BBC in 2018 — and the complete recording of Luigi Rossi’s "L’Orfeo".
Winner of the Special Mention at the Premio Abbiati del Disco in 2021 and nominated for the International Classical Music Awards, the ensemble has recently collaborated with the actress Maddalena Crippa for a reinterpretation of Francesco Geminiani’s "The Enchanted Forest".
